Kenny Walker's College Career
When Kenny arrived on the scene
at UK he was welcomed with a barrage of media. He
was just what the fans had in mind; a quick, athletic
and exciting ball player... and man could he jump!
He was an instant celebrity.
But unlike some high-profile college athletes,
the hype surrounding his game was fully justified. Each
time Kenny stepped on the court his presence was known.
As his local celebrity status grew, so did his name.
Over time, the name Kenny started to fade away as "Sky" caught
on. Kenny "Sky" Walker amazed the fans with
his ability to soar over his opponents leaving them on
the ground watching... just like the crowd.
Kenny's legacy at UK still lives on today. The
bonds he shared with teammates, and the role he played
at UK remains fresh in the minds of the Kentucky Faithful.
When it was time for Kenny to leave, he made sure he
would not soon be forgotten. Kenny left Kentucky as
a First Team All American and his legacy as a record-setter
is still felt through the UK program.
To this day, Kenny is the second all time leading
scorer for UK with 2080 points, just 58 points shy of
the record. You can now see his jersey hanging from
the rafters in Rupp Arena as his number was retired in
2001. Pay close attention the next time you see a home
game broadcast on TV, you may catch a glimpse of Kenny
sitting court-side. Go Big Blue! |
